Lhasa Arrival
Welcome to Lhasa, the heart of Tibet!
Upon arrival at Lhasa Gonggar Airport or the railway station, your local guide will warmly greet you in the arrival hall and transfer you to your hotel.
As this is your first day on the Tibetan Plateau, we recommend taking it easy and getting plenty of rest to help your body acclimatise to the high altitude. Avoid strenuous activities and stay well hydrated.

Today’s journey begins with the iconic Potala Palace, the highest ancient palace complex in the world and the former winter residence of successive Dalai Lamas. Climb the historic stairway to admire magnificent architecture while enjoying panoramic views over Lhasa.
In the afternoon, visit the sacred Jokhang Temple, the spiritual centre of Tibetan Buddhism. This UNESCO-listed temple beautifully combines Tibetan, Nepalese, Tang Dynasty, and Indian architectural styles.
Afterwards, stroll around Barkhor Street, where pilgrims perform traditional kora while local shops offer authentic Tibetan handicrafts and souvenirs. Relax at a local teahouse and experience the laid-back lifestyle of Lhasa.

Lhasa — Basomtso Lake — Nyingchi
After breakfast, drive east toward the enchanting Basomtso Lake in Gongbujiangda County.
Travel alongside the picturesque Nyang River, cross the Mila Mountain Pass (5,013m), and descend into the lower-altitude Nyingchi region (approximately 2,800m), renowned for its mild climate and lush landscapes.
Known as the “Little Switzerland of Tibet,” Basomtso Lake is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, dense forests, and crystal-clear waters. Visit the island in the middle of the lake and enjoy spectacular scenery from various viewpoints.
Continue to Nyingchi, often called the “Throne of the Sun,” while passing through beautiful river valleys and untouched forests.

Nyingchi — Mount Namcha Barwa — Lulang Forest — Nyingchi (Complimentary Nyingchi Stone Pot Chicken)

Drive approximately two hours to Lulang, crossing the scenic Sejila Mountain Pass (4,515m).
Weather permitting, enjoy one of Tibet’s finest viewpoints overlooking the magnificent Mount Namcha Barwa, one of the world’s most beautiful snow peaks.
Continue to the idyllic Lulang Forest, often referred to as “the place where gods live.” Wander through alpine forests, vast meadows, and peaceful grazing lands dotted with yaks and sheep.
Enjoy the famous local speciality—Lulang Stone Pot Chicken—before returning to Nyingchi.

Nyingchi — Kadinggou Waterfall — Lhasa
After breakfast, visit Kadinggou Waterfall, also known as the “Heavenly Buddha Waterfall.”
Nestled within a pristine forest canyon, the waterfall plunges nearly 200 metres down steep cliffs. The rock formations naturally resemble the face of Buddha, giving the site its unique name.
After sightseeing, drive back to Lhasa along the scenic highway.

Lhasa — Yamdrok Lake — Karola Glacier — Shigatse
Today’s scenic drive takes you through the fertile Nyangchu Valley toward western Tibet.
Visit the stunning turquoise waters of Yamdrok Lake, one of Tibet’s three sacred lakes, followed by a stop at the spectacular roadside Karola Glacier (4,960m).
Continue to Gyantse, where you’ll visit the historic Kumbum Stupa, renowned for its exquisite Buddhist murals and unique multi-storey architecture.
Arrive in Shigatse, Tibet’s second-largest city and the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama.

Drive west along the Friendship Highway toward Everest Base Camp.
The route offers breathtaking highland scenery, vast grasslands, winding rivers, and towering Himalayan peaks. On clear days, you may catch views of several mountains exceeding 8,000 metres, including Mount Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, and Makalu.
Upon arrival, settle into your accommodation and enjoy a special hot pot dinner beneath the world’s highest mountain.

Wake early to witness the unforgettable sunrise over Mount Everest.

Capture unforgettable photographs before returning to Shigatse in the afternoon.

Shigatse — Tashilhunpo Monastery — Lhasa
Visit the magnificent Tashilhunpo Monastery, the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama and one of the six great monasteries of the Gelug School.
Founded in 1447, the monastery houses the world’s largest gilded statue of Maitreya Buddha, standing 26 metres tall.
After sightseeing, drive approximately four hours back to Lhasa.

Lhasa — Namtso Lake — Northern Tibet Grassland — Lhasa
Today you’ll journey across the vast grasslands of northern Tibet along the Qinghai–Tibet Highway.
Cross the Nagela Mountain Pass (5,190m) before arriving at the breathtaking Namtso Lake (4,718m), one of Tibet’s three sacred lakes.
As the world’s highest saltwater lake and China’s second-largest salt lake, Namtso is famous for its crystal-clear waters, dramatic mountain backdrop, and colourful prayer flags fluttering in the wind.
Return to Lhasa in the evening as the plateau glows beneath the setting sun.
