Arrive in Lhasa by plane or by train
Welcome to Lhasa, the enchanting capital of Tibet.
Upon your arrival at Lhasa Gonggar International Airport or Lhasa Railway Station, our experienced local guide and driver will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. The remainder of the day is reserved for rest and acclimatization to the high altitude.
To help your body adjust, we recommend avoiding strenuous activities, alcohol, hot showers, and washing your hair on your first day.

Lhasa Sightseeing: Drepung Monastery/Sera Monastery
After breakfast, begin your exploration of Tibet’s rich Buddhist heritage with a visit to Drepung Monastery, once the largest monastery in the world and the former residence of the Dalai Lamas before the construction of Potala Palace. At its peak, Drepung housed more than 10,000 monks and served as the political center of Tibet during the 17th century.
In the afternoon, continue to Sera Monastery, one of the three great Gelug monasteries in Lhasa. The highlight here is the famous Monk Debate Session, held daily between approximately 3:00 PM and 4:30 PM, where monks engage in lively philosophical debates using expressive gestures and traditional debating techniques.

Lhasa Sightseeing: Potala Palace/Jokhang Temple/Barkhor Street
Today you’ll discover Lhasa’s most iconic landmarks.
Begin with the magnificent Potala Palace, the former winter residence of the Dalai Lamas and the symbol of Tibet. Explore its grand assembly halls, exquisite murals, sacred chapels, golden stupas, and invaluable Buddhist treasures.
In the afternoon, visit Jokhang Temple, the spiritual heart of Tibetan Buddhism. Built in the 7th century by King Songtsen Gampo, the temple houses the revered statue of the 12-year-old Shakyamuni Buddha and attracts thousands of devoted pilgrims every day.
Complete your sightseeing with a leisurely walk around Barkhor Street, the oldest street in Lhasa. Here you’ll witness pilgrims performing the traditional kora, spinning prayer wheels, chanting mantras, and prostrating in deep devotion. If time permits, your guide can also introduce you to a traditional Tibetan teahouse, where you can enjoy a cup of authentic sweet milk tea.

Leave Lhasa and travel across the spectacular Tibetan Plateau.
Cross Kamba La Pass (4,794m) for breathtaking panoramic views of the brilliant turquoise Yamdrok Lake, one of Tibet’s three sacred lakes. In the distance, admire the snow-covered Mount Nyenchen Khangsar, while the magnificent Karola Glacier offers another unforgettable stop along today’s journey.
Continue through the historic town of Gyantse, once Tibet’s third most important city, before arriving in Shigatse, the second-largest city in Tibet.

Overnight in Shigatse
Shigatse/Lhatse/Tingri (Shegar)/Rongbuk Monastery
Begin the day by visiting Tashilhunpo Monastery, the traditional seat of the Panchen Lamas. The monastery is famous for its magnificent 26-meter gilded Maitreya Buddha, one of the largest seated Buddha statues in Tibet.
Continue your journey westward via Lhatse and Tingri, crossing Gyatsola Pass (5,248m) before entering the Everest region.
From Gawula Pass (5,250m), enjoy one of Tibet’s most spectacular panoramic viewpoints, where five of the Himalayas’ highest peaks come into view: Mount Makalu (8,463m), Mount Lhotse (8,516m), Mount Everest (8,848m), Mount Cho Oyu (8,201m), and Mount Shishapangma (8,027m).
After descending through winding mountain roads, visit Rongbuk Monastery, the highest monastery in the world, before arriving at Everest Base Camp (5,200m). Spend the evening enjoying close-up views of the world’s highest mountain.

If weather permits, wake up early to witness the spectacular sunrise over Mount Everest, as the first golden light illuminates the summit.
After visiting Everest Base Camp, continue along the Friendship Highway toward Gyirong Valley, one of Tibet’s most beautiful border regions.
Along the way, enjoy magnificent Himalayan scenery and admire Mount Shishapangma (8,027m), the only mountain over 8,000 meters located entirely within China.
Arrive in the pleasant border town of Gyirong, surrounded by lush forests and dramatic mountain landscapes.
