Arrive in Lhasa
Welcome to Tibet!
Whether you arrive in Lhasa by train or plane, your friendly local Tibetan guide will greet you with a traditional Khata, the ceremonial white scarf symbolizing good fortune and warm wishes.
Your guide and driver will then escort you to your hotel in downtown Lhasa. Along the way, enjoy your first glimpse of Tibet as you pass the magnificent Yarlung Tsangpo River and the tranquil Lhasa River.
After check-in, we recommend spending the rest of the day relaxing at the hotel to help your body acclimatise to the high-altitude environment.
Later in the afternoon or evening, your guide will meet the group, present a small Tibetan welcome gift, introduce your fellow travelers, and provide a detailed tour briefing, including useful travel tips and local cultural etiquette.

Continue to Loseling College (or a similar Buddhist academy), where you can observe monks studying Buddhist scriptures and gain insight into monastic education and daily life.
In the afternoon, visit Sera Monastery, one of Tibet’s most influential monasteries.
If your visit falls between Monday and Saturday, you’ll witness the famous Monk Debates held around 3:00 pm in the Debate Courtyard. This lively intellectual tradition combines philosophy, logic, and Buddhist teachings through animated discussion and expressive gestures.

Next, visit Dragon King Pool Park, located at the foot of Potala Palace, where locals gather to relax, dance, and enjoy everyday life. This is also one of the best places to photograph the palace.
In the afternoon, visit the sacred Jokhang Temple, the spiritual heart of Tibetan Buddhism. Here you’ll see the revered life-size statue of the 12-year-old Shakyamuni Buddha, one of Tibet’s most treasured religious relics.
Continue to Barkhor Street, where pilgrims perform the traditional clockwise kora around the temple while local markets offer handicrafts, prayer wheels, and Tibetan souvenirs.

Lhasa – Gyantse – Shigatse
Cross the 4,900-meter-high Gampa La Pass, and the sacred Yamdrok Lake will unfold like a brilliant blue gem. From the pass, you’ll gaze down at the ribbon-like lake and the distant snow-capped peak of Mount Noijin Kangsang (7,191m). Several viewpoints along the lakeshore offer stunning perspectives, and at the far end, you’ll be welcomed into a local Tibetan home for an authentic lunch.
Next, visit the stunning Karola Glacier, where you can witness the breathtaking ice tongue extending down the mountainside. At Simila Pass, join locals in hanging prayer flags and making a wish. In Gyantse, take time to photograph the ancient town.
Finally, travel through barley fields that shift from emerald green in summer to golden yellow in autumn, arriving in Shigatse, Tibet’s second-largest city. Throughout the day, you’ll be immersed in landscapes of awe-inspiring beauty and vibrant natural colors.

After breakfast, your guide will take you to Tashilhunpo Monastery, the largest monastery in Shigatse and the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama. Built into the hillside with golden-roofed halls, this spiritual center houses the world’s tallest Maitreya Buddha copper statue. Stroll through the complex and observe monks in maroon robes and yellow hats moving between chapels. With luck, you may even witness a monastic ceremony.
Next, explore the vibrant Samdruptse Old Market, a hub for traditional handicrafts, local products, and colorful Tibetan clothing. More than just a market, it’s a social gathering place where you can immerse yourself in local culture, interact with residents, and glimpse into daily Tibetan life.
