1、Who needs to apply for a Tibet Entry Permit?

For travel to Tibet, anyone who is a non-Chinese citizen and holds a foreign passport is required to apply for a Tibet Entry Permit, regardless of whether they are adults or children.

The issuing authority for the Tibet Entry Permit is the Tibet Tourism Bureau, and the application must be submitted through a local travel agency in Tibet. Travel agencies from other provinces or any other institutions are not eligible to apply. Individual applications are not accepted.

3、Necessary Documents：

The tourist entrusts the travel agency to apply for the Tibet entry permit, and needs to provide basic documents such as passport and visa photos or scans. If it is a work visa, the company’s work certificate is also required.

4、Customize Travel Itinerary：

Foreign tourists are not allowed to travel freely, and they need to plan in advance, including the city they will enter in Tibet, the tour routes, hotels, and other details. The travel time is generally not more than 30 days.

5、Approval Time：

The approval for the Tibet Entry Permit usually takes 1-2 weeks. It is advisable for travelers to apply at least one month in advance for a more secure process. For boarding a plane or train, the permit is essential, ensuring they can board the means of transportation smoothly.

6、Transport to Enter Tibet：

There are no restrictions on flights and trains, including the Yunnan-Tibet route and the Sichuan-Tibet route, which are also open without restrictions.

It is essential to note that the current Xin-Tibet and Qinghai-Tibet sections are not open. Please be aware that the Tibet Entry Permit only allows you to travel within Tibet. Certain special attractions such as the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon, Nanyi vally, Lebu Gou in Shannan, and the non-open areas around Mount Shisha Pangma are not accessible.
